EPSOM SUMMER CARNIVAL.

ROYAL SILK'S CUP.

TEMPEST BEATS REY DE QUEST.

There are six turf meetings in the Dominion to-day—the opening of the Auckland Club s summer carnival and the final day at Westport comprises the trotting programme, while there are races again at New Plymouth, Awapuni, Wingatui and Hokitika.

At Epsom there is a large crowd for the Auckland Cup meeting, and as the weather is all that can be desired the track is in great order.

The opening favourite justified the public's " confidence, Worthy Queen beating Caballero and Windchat home in the Selby Handicap.

In the December Handicap Tempest and Rey de Quest paid the dividends.

The Auckland Trotting Cup was won by Royal Silk from Muriel de Oro and Pluto.
