CAPITAL AND LABOUR.
CONFERENCE AT GENEVA. NEW ZEALAND REPRESENTATIVE RETURNS. New Zealand's representative at the International Labour Conference of the League of Nations at Geneva in October, Mr. Albert Spencer, president of the Auckland Provincial Employers' Association, returned by the Aorangi yesterday. The conference, which lasted seven days, was attended by delegates representing employers and labour unions and Government officials from all parts of the world.
"I look to the International Labour headquarters to bring about an understanding between capital and labour and to solve some of the economic problems the world is faced with to-day," said Mr. Spencer. "Many questions affecting conditions and hours of. work were handled by the conference, and the discussions went far to establish better harmony between the conflicting viewpoints." The Labour office had a. permanent staff of 400, including several New Zealaiiders, said Sir. Spencer. He said it would be an important factor in stabilising world economic conditions for the future.
