W.C.T.U. MEETING.
The, meeting, of tie Auckland Women's Christian Temperance , Union was held on Tuesday, JVXrs. John Cook presiding Mesdames Stempson.' (recently from Eng-land,),'-Hist (Wellington-);' ..and - Hobbs (Inglewood), were welcomed. Mrs Stempson conducted the devotional meeting and gave an interesting Bible reading on / "The Need, Method and Result of Spiritual Cleansing." Grants were passed to help the work in the back-blocks, Maori and prison work departments. Miss Adams, Dominion district superintendent of Maori work, gave an account of her recent visit to the Far North. She paid a tribute to the work of' Sisters Nichols and Robbie. She graphically described a Maori feast at which she had been a guest, and spoke of the lovable nature of the Maori children. She stressed the need of temperance teaching among them, while they were ryoung. Mrs. Cook urged the necessity of getting women to Parliament who understand the problems of women.
