CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP.
D. JONES HEADS THE LIST
The Auckland Chess Club's tourneys have been keenly contested this year and the competitions are now in the knockout stage. In the club championship Messrs. D. Jones, 7 points, Moil*, Roberts and Sale, each 6 points, qualified for the final, which is being played off in a double round contest. With three games to be played the points scored are:—Jones 11, Moir 8/2, Sale 7, Roberts 6Vs. Whatver the result of the final games may be, Jones has already won the championship. For several years lie has been the runner-up, and his success this year is a popular one.
