SUBURBAN ASSOCIATION.
SUCCESSFUL PAST SEASON. | NEW ZEALAND PLAYERS AS COACHES. The report presented at the annual meeting of the Auckland City and Suburban Cricket Association last night stated that the past season had been successful from all viewpoints. The finances of the association had suffered somewhat, due to the heavy coach fund- debt. £.T!00 had been paid off and this season would be started without liability. The season's receipts were £412, and the balance-sheet revealed a debit of 14/2. Mr. Elliott stated that there was money in baud and that the position was satisfactory. A suggestion that the services of local members of the New Zealand cricket team should be -availed of as club coaches was favourably considered The knowledge gained abroad by the tourists would be valuable to younger players. The matter was deferred until a later date.
Different views were expressed on a notice of motion from the Mount Roskill Club and a decision of the Auckland Cricket Association in respect to the allocation of points in local two-day matches. One delegate expressed approval of the action taken by the Auckland Cricket Association, >and the following new scale of points was eventually agreed to :—Outright win, 6 points; win on first innings, 4; loss on first innings, 1 ; outright loss, 0; tie on either innings, 3; 110 result on first innings, 2.
The following new rule was adopted in all two-day matches : —A team batting first in club matches shall not be entitled to bat beyond the first day, provided play has extended for three and three-quarter hours on that day It was decided to play the senior B grade matches over a duration of two days. The period- of play in the second grade was referred to the junior management committee for a report.
Mr. A. Gcdye advocated a reduction in the affiliation fees of clubs and- the payment of regitration fees of players. Tho recommendation was referred to the finance convrittee.
The following officers were elected: — Patron, Mr. W. S. Pratt; vice-patrons, Messrs. E. IT. Davis and B. W. Davis ; president, Mr. J. Elliott; vice-presidents, same as last season and Mr. .T. W. Proud; honorary secretary, Mr. E. Stallworthy; assistant secreary, Mr. J. Ball; honorary teasurer, Mr. A. Kiddell. PLUNKET SHIELD. FIXTURES WITH WELLINGTON AND CANTERBURY. WELLINGTON, this day. The Wellington Cricket Association last night decided to accept Canterbury's offer to play the Plunk«t Shield match with Wellington on January 1, 2, 4 and 5. It was decided to invite Auckland to play Wellington at Wellington at Christmas time. Mr ,T. S. Hanna suggested that the Plunket Shield programme required an overhauling. Mr. Broad said the present programme had been drawn up to suit Auckland and Otago, who had the most travelling to do.
