WOMEN'S HOCKEY.

DOMINION TOURNAMENT.

EASTERN AND WELLINGTON WIN

CLOSE OF SECTION CONTESTS. Section winners in the New Zealand women's hockey championship tournament as the result of yesterday's games at Remuera are Eastern Southland and Wellington, joint holders of the "K" Cup and the Floyd Shield. These teams will meet in the inter-seetion final to-morrow afternoon. Wanganui scored a surprise win over Poverty Bay and gave rise to a play-off between Rotorua and Poverty Bay, which stood equal on points, in section B. The winners of this match this afternoon will meet Manawatu to-morrow in a contest for the Holden Cup. Yesterday's games were played on heavy grounds, and Auckland Country, which had been outstanding in section A, were below their earlier form in the game in which they were beaten by Manawatu. Eastern Southland 5, beat Southland 1. Manawatu 3, beat Auckland Country 2. Wairarapa 4, beat Akitio 0. B SECTION. Wellington 1, beat Rotorua 0. Wanganui 1, beat Poverty Bay 0. Auckland City 3, beat Euahine 2. The positions of the teams in the tournament to date are as follow: — A Section.—Eastern Southland 8, Manawatu 7, Auckland Country 6, Southland 4, Wairarapa 3, Akitio 2. B Section.—Wellington 9, Poverty Bay 6, Rotorua 6, Wanganui 4, Ruahine 3, Auckland City 2.
