BUYERS IN THE FIELDS. The improved export demand, "which has been previously commented upon, has now resulted in an interesting development, advices from the country districts stating that travelling hawkers and buyers have again put in an appearance on the gum fields, to pick up any cheap lots offering. The official returns for the month of July fully confirm the estimate that, a, heavy export trade was going on, as it « shown that 388 tons were sent away, whereas only 244 tons were received trom the fields during the month. These exports comprised 277% tons for London and the Continent, 105% to the United States, and five tons to Australia, making the largest quantity sent away in any month since May of last year.
