' - little demand at auction, at slightly lower prices; 784 casks were offered and 48 sold. Present quotations for spot are:—3luttonc Fine, 22/; fair to good, 19/6 to 21/; dark to dull, 16/6 to 17/6. Beef:. Sweet and/or mixed, 21/ to 22/; fair to good, 18/ to 20/6; dark to dull, 15/ to 17/ Mixed: Fair'to good, 17/6 to 20/6; dark to dull, 15/ to 17/. Gut, etc., 15/ to 17/. . ,-..■• - . ■: Fruit.—Trade slower, With current prices for New Zealand apples same as last quotaHemp.—Sjanila .market idle, but quotations remain [steady. ' K". grade for August/October.- shipment, r£ 15 5/. value. October/December shipment sold at £15 15/. Sisal: Market quiet, with prices falling. JFo; 1 good, marks for August/ September shipment quoted £14 5/, and fair average quality for July-September shipment, £13 10/. New Zealand: Market still neglected. . The . overseas demand for Queensland sugar this season has been very;heavy. Wheat cargoes are fairly steady, and occasionally 3d higher. Parcels are firm at a rise of 3d, with fair business. Futures:—London: September, 17/6 per quarter; December, 18/3; February, 18/11. Liverpool: October, 3/11% per cental; December, 4/I; ; March, 4/3%; May, 4/5%. CHICAGO, August 17. Wheat for. .delivery in September is quoted at 49% cents per bushel, for delivery in December at 53% cents, for March delivery At 55% cents, antl for May delivery, at 57% cents.. [.'
