Scheme Five.—The New Lynn Borough Council wrote enclosing a copy of a letter forwarded to the Unemployment Committee, in which the board urged the necessity of the committee bringing forward a scheme of major importance, thus relieving local bodies of the responsibility of continually finding work for men under scheme five. It was decided to write to the Unemployment Committee expressing the board's full sympathy with the New Lynn letter. The foreman, Mr. R. Forbes, reported that the work at present in hand would be finished before the end of the week. The chairman and Mr. Woolley were appointed to deal with a suggestion that Scott s Road be cleared of noxious weeds and rubbish.
