GLOOMY PROPHECY.
PEER ON ENGLAND'S FUTURE. LONDON", July 15. In the course of the debate on the Finance Bill in the House of Lords the Marquess of Lothian predicted that the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Mr. Philip Snowden, would next year be faced with the most serious situation in living memory. It was a question, what measures the Government should take. They were bound to be far-reaching, and might even approach those adopted in Australia.
