LONG CYCLE RIDE.
PARIS TO AUSTRALIA.
LONDON, July 10.
Having to return to Australia, with no need for hurry, Mr. W. J. Hodgson, a burly 27-year-old- West Australian farmer, , has gone to Paris to buy a bicycle, on which he will ride home. "I thought I would like to see the farms on my way," Mr. Hodgson said. "It is no fun just seeing the capital cities. See one and you've seen the lot. "I propose to ride across France, Germany. Austria, Russia, Siberia, Persia and India, down to Singapore, reaching Darwin by the best way possible. 'T think I will ride down the east coast of Australia, as I have seen the west coast. I hope to reach Perth inside a year. "If the Russians make a fuss I will change my plans and go to Turkey, thence reaching Persia." Mr. Hodgson confessed that he had scant cycling experience. He explained that it was easier to cycle to Australia than Sv there.
