RHINE INCIDENT.
German Official Shoots at Two Alsatian Fishermen. ONE CRITICALLY INJURED. (Received 12.30 p.m.) BERLIN, July 5. A German Customs officer at Strasbourg shot and critically wounded an Alsatian' innkeeper named Georg, . who was -fishing witUout a license In the Rhine in company with a gamekeeper named Furst. Both were residents of Wanzehu.
The current, had carried their boat within 50 yards of the German bank, when an official sprang up and shouted, "Are you Germans?" .
They replied, "Yes," but their Alsatian accent betrayed them. They disobeyed his order to land, whereupon the official fired his revolver three times, wounding Georg near the heart. ' "
Furst then rowed to the French bank and rushed Georg to hospital. The Franco-German police have opened an inquiry.
