Dr. H. M. Watt, Director-General of Health, returned to Wellington last evening.
The Rev. A'. Astor, Rabbi of Dunedin, has been appointed assistant-Rabbi at Auckland to Rabbi Goldstein.
The Hon. J. B. Gow, M.L.C., was a passenger to Frankton by the Limited this morning from Wellington.
Sir Lennon Raws, managing director of Imperial Chemical Industries (Australia and New Zealand), Ltd., is at the Grand Hotel.
Mr. T. P. McCarthy, of Wellington, was yesterday admitted a. barrister of the Supreme Court by the Chief Justice, Sir Michael Myers.
Mr. T. Reynolds, secretary of the Waikato Trotting Club, arrived at Franktori by the Limited from Wellington this morning.
Mr. Behrand Van Staveren, of Van Staveren Brothers, Wellington, is expected to return from a visit to England and America next week.
Captain R. Crawford, formerly commander of" the Aorangi, left Auckland for Sydney by the Marama this afternoon. He will return shortly to Auckland, where he intends to reside.
Mr. R. W. Corson, a prominent member of the Junior Reform League, has been chosen by the league to enter the party ballot for the selection of a candidate to contest the Auckland East seat.
Mr. C. L. Monckton, son of Mr. L. M. Monckton, of Mount Herbert, Waip'ukurau, has passed his final examination in the' British Army Aerodrome in Egypt. Mr. Monckton, who passed with high honours, will take up _ duty on the northern frontier of India.
