Despite the unsettled weather, 21 riders took part in the Auckland Amateur Cycling Club's 21-mile road race from New Lynn to Swanson and back. Although the limit men, Robins, Goader ■Hid Johnson, maintained a steady pace from the outset, they were caught by Gil Jeeves and M. A. Johnson, and some fins pacing took place. Jeeves was in front at the- turning point, closely followed by the others, and also Hall and Laloli (lm), these two having made up a lot of ground. At this point B. Saunders (4Jm) had the misfortune to puncture, while H. Brown (scr) ■ broke a toestrap. On the outward journey a strong head wind was blowing, but once the ■turning point was reached the riders, with wind behind them, registered some fast times. Jeeves maintained his advantage and crossed the line 11 seconds nhead of E. Hall (1m), who was closely followed by Laloli. Results :— OH Jeeves, 9*m i E. Hall, lm •> I. C. Laloli, lm ..'.]'. 3 M. J.
