HOSPITAL WAGES.

I see'that Mr. Wallace, chairman, of the .-, Auckland Hospital Board, states that..the ten ,(i per cent reduction in salaries has 'been. applied,,;,. only because the Minister' of Health.has com- : .. : pelled them to do it. Hβ puts all the onus . on the Minister of Health, while I am sure the Minister nor the Government would willingly reduce anyone's salary, and that what has been done is designedly in the interests of the Dominion. lam also certain that the Hon. A. J. Stallworthy will not try to put the blame on to anyone else. We can be thankful that in these days we have Ministers who are men enough to take responsibility when this needs to be done for the nation's security. Mr. Wallace is wrong when he talks of blaming the Minister, who deserves our praise. Since "cuts" have to be made, it is'only equitable that they should be applied uniforinlv and without discrimination. NEW ZEALAND FIRST.
