ANOMALIES IN INTEREST. The promises of the Lang Government have led to some curious result'. _ Tlie latest issue of the "Australian Municipal Journal" states that the Narrabri Municipal Council has decided to request the Government for a loan of £10,000 at 3 per cent interest. The money is required for schemes for concrete guttering, municipal tennis courts, bowling greens, and electric stone crusher. Other requests of a similar nature have been made despite the fact that, as published in the same journal, the Melbourne and Metropolitan Board of Works has not been able to secure a full subscription to its loan of £500,000 offered seven months ago, with 6'/4 per cent as the rate of interest. The Sydney Water Board is also offering 6*4 per cent for a new loan to be issued at £99 10/, repayable in two years,
