ASLEEP IN SHED.
GAOL FOR VAGRANT. Found asleep in a tin shed in Federal Street at 2.30 on Sunday morning, Andrew Anderson, a cook, aged 57, was arrested and this morning appeared before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., in the Police Court charged with being a rogue and vagabond, with insufficient means of support. Mr. Alan Smythe, who appeared for accused, pleaded not guiltv on his behalf. Constable Wilson, who arrested accused, said he had seen him earlier in the evening under the influence of liquor. Witness had frequently seen Anderson about the stress at night. He had been drinking methylated spirits. Mr. Smythe: Accused says he has three weeks' work to do unloading coal. Mr. Hunt: The last work he did was three months' for aggravated assault. And now he has got six months' work up above. That will give him a chance to get the methylated spirits out of his system.
