MOUNT EDEN V. WESLEY.
Mount Eden opened the attacs until Sharpies worfced through, then Fletcher broke away, and with the arrival of Michel Wesley cleared. Play hung in Mount Eden territory, although Chaplin ran to half-way. Horspool advanced along the right flank, and from a cross hit Wellbourne centred, but Burton intercepted, and from resultant play Fletcher shot wide from a corner. Close work at half-way saw Wellbourne centre, and Chaplin, gaining possession inside the twenty-five, entered the circle and put a fast shot into the net. Mount Eden 1, Wesley 0. When the game restarted, Wesley were first to move, and crossed the line. Hayson headed another attack, and Jenkins streaked across the ground and blocked the centring stroke, and Mount Eden transferred operations to the other end. Further attacking saw Fletcher pass nicely to Wellbourne, who scored, though the progress of the ball war interrupted by Cooper. Mount Eden 2, Wesley 0. Wesley retaliated, but Mainland sent them back Ahlers set Wesley in motion, but it was not long before the Mount Eden forwards severely tested the Wesley defence. However, the greens worked along the right, and Burton's shot was stopped by Vail. Then Surman swung the ball outside the post. Several sorties by the Mount Eden van broke down, until Horspool shot from an acute angle, which produced a corner. Mount Eden maintained the attack, and M. Jones scored. Mount Eden 3, Wesley 0.
