TAKANINI TRIALS.
HAVERING AND VANDYKE. The weather was showery for training operations at Takanini this morning. The middle grass track was in use, and the going was heavy. Refresher was going comfortably alongside Eaglet at the end of six furlongs in 1.18 2-5. Vandyke, Howick and Coolmint finished in that order at the end of five furlongs in 1.4. Vandyke's effort was impressive. Catchem and Taurua were together at the finish of six furlongs in 1.19. Havering went nicely over nine furlongs, running the distance in 2.1, the last mile taking 1.46. Ruffles was not asked to do his best while running six furlongs in 1.21. In addition to the mounts already published, H. Gray will be on Crimastor at Te Awamutu on Saturday.
