BRITISH REPRISALS.
TO AMERICAN TARIFFS,
WASHINGTON, May 15. A warning to America that Britain would soon consider tariff reprisals was conveyed by Dr. Coates, Britain's delegate to the International Chamber of Commerce Conference, and himself leader of the British chemical industries, at a recent session. He and Sir Arthur Balfour dominated the resolutions of the committee. They overrode the American objections and resolutions listed for adoption. Saturday's final open session will favour the study by the Governments involved of war debts and reparations, looking to revision arid final removal of tariff barriers. They also hope for reduction of armaments.
