Joseph B. Lawrence, of Bluefield, Virginia, appears a perfectly normal manbut not a drop of blood in his body is his own. it was all contributed by 20 other persons, and he has undergone 51 blood transfusions since December 17, 1929. His system refuses to manufacture its own blood. He suffers from pernicious anaemia, and in December, 1929, weighed only Bst 21b. though he is 6ft tall. He has gained 3st 21b since then, looks well and drives his own mot-or cs.r, though fa 6 cannot work, and every now and then has to have a fresh supply of blood. He has a family -i seven children.
