NOTED DOG DEAD.
PASSING OF IGLOO,
NEW YORK, April 22.
The death has occurred suddenly of Igloo, Rear-Admiral Byrd's mongtei terrier, while his master was on a lecture tour.
Admiral Byrd broke his engagements and endeavoured to reach home before Igloo's death, but failed to do so. He will arrive in time to attend the simple burial ceremonies.
Igloo, as well as being the first dog to fly over the North Pole, was known as probably having the widest acquaintance,, among prominent men throughout the world of any dog of the present dav.
Noteworthy among his adventures -was a period of considerable excitement when he was lost for some time at Ashburton railway station, New Zealand, while en route to Little America.
