POTATOES CHEAPER.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. The principal activity in the wheat section is in fowl wheat. Prompt is quoted at 5/ to 5/1, f.0.b.; for May delivery, 5/3. There has been an immediate weakening in the potato position owing to larger quantities offering. The quotation fell from 85/ a ton, f.0.b., for prompt shipment yesterday to 75/ to-day. The JulySeptember quotation remains unaltered. On present quotations potatoes are worth £2 15/ a ton to growers on trucks. The market is not strong.
