MUSICIANS' PAY.

I have read very carefully the two socalled replies to my letter of April 6. I have also read similarly the musicians' award in relation to the matter under discussion. The secretary of the Musicians' Union invites me to air my grievances at the union meeting and not through the columns of the Press. This might suit .him, but I think this is a matter that the public of Auckland should have a little insight into. Mr. Egerton has not in his letter contradicted my statement as regards the breach complained of. Mr. Frank Poore says I must surely be a musician of long standing, otherwise I would not make such statements about this particular breach of the award. Of course, this is intended to be sarcasm on Mr. F. Poore's part. For the benefit of Mr. F. Poore, the Auckland Musicians' Union and the public generally, allow me to put in my letter that part of the award under notice. This is it: Clause 20 of the schedule of the award. Instruments: Any person required to play upon more than one instrument in the course of any performance shall be paid 1/6 per performance in addition to award rates. Provided that this clause shall not apply to drummers using their legitimate effects or to persons playing on nonorchestral instruments, or to the following' combination of instruments:— (a) Piano and organ, (b) flute and piccolo. There are none so blind as those that won't see. This is not sarcasm. ONE OF THE PROFESSIONALS.
