UNEMPLOYED TEACHERS.
Some time ago the chairman of the Auckland Education Board stated that it would he a graceful act "were _ those teachers who were eligible to retire on full superannuation to do so. It would be interesting to know how many have responded to the suggestion. In view of the drastic retirements in both the Railway and Postal Departments, it is surely "time the Government made a move to compel such teachers to retire at once. If this were done, along with the retirement of many of the married women teachers, and an opportunity afforded to others near the retiring age to go out voluntarily, the unemployment among teachers would cease at once. It is deplorable that while over 600 young teachers cannot find employment so many still lag superfluous on the stage. FAIR PLAY".
