DRAINAGE BOARD SAVING. CHRISTCHURCH CRITICISM. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday. Members of the Christchureh Drainage Board to-day criticised the Government's decision, as expressed in a letter from the Under-Secretary of the Public Works Department, that the annual contribution of £150 for the disposal of sewage from Government buildings would not bp renewed. "This is economy run mad," declared Mr. E. H. S. Hamilton. "It is taking the amount from the Government general account and putting it on to the ratepayers of this city." Members suggested cutting off" the service. The chairman, Mr. W. J. Walter, suggested that the Minister of Public Works should be approached. It certainly was not fair to put the burden on the ratepayers. The secretary was instructed to refuse further permits to the Government in the meantime.
