WORK AT EPSOM.

GOOD CONDITIONS PREVAIL

PREPARING FOR CAMBRIDGE

Although the track was not fast at Epsom this morning it was nevertheless in good order, and dried up quickly once the sun shone out. Gold Treasure was one of the first to work, he being sent two miles, which he covered in 4.57, without being driven He paced the last mile in 2.20 4-5. Dad's Hope (Clifton) led Lord Lu (P. Morrison) throughout a mile and a half in 3.45. Moko Chief (Willets) paced his best style when doing a mile and a half in 3.28 1-5. He paced the first mile in 2.19 4-5. He does not often go as well as he did this morning. Carl Mack (F. Smith) and Prince Triumph (C. Smith) were companions over a mile and a half. Carl Mack won by many lengths, Prince Triumph breaking badly a couple or tim«-s. Auto Machine (Brown) was given useful work over two miles, with the hopples on, without being asked to show real speed. Benefice (Morrison) was allowed _to stride along easily to do two miles in 5.2. Rey de Quest (Webb) was driven out to go a mile in 2.28. His effort was very disappointing. Direct Action was given serviceable work in the saddle on the sand track. Rolfe Audubon was not strapped up, and his task was a light one. Moko Girl trotted a mile and a half in slow time, but though she made no mistakes she threatened to go in the air more than once. Warplane (Fairman) who has not done much hoppled work lately, sprinted a mile nicely in 2.18 2-5, going at an even rate all the way. Mr. Penalty (P. Smith). Carnui (C. Smith) and Lord Haldane (Webb) worked a mile and a half. It took them 2.32 io go a mile, and they made no time on the trip. Lord Haldane trailed his companions throughout. Oliver Thorpe, Nathaniel, and Prince Etawah set off together to go a mile and a half. Oliver Thorpe went away in the lead, and held it to the end, doing the mile and a half in 3.35 2-5. Nathaniel was close up at the finish, but Prince Etawah was beaten at the end of a mile and a quarter, and finished several lengths back. Gaza was sprinted a mile and a quarter in 2.54 2-5. He ran the first half mile in 1.8. and the mile in 2.18. Great Vanity, who has joined F. Smith's team, was driven a mile and a half in 3.34 4-5. _ M-iuntain Dell, who has been spelling since the February meeting of the Auckland Club, has been taken in hand again, and will be prepared for the winter fixture at Epsom.

CAMBRIDGE ACCEPTANCES. Acceptances for the Cambridge Trotting Club's meeting close to-morrow, Friday, at 5 p.m., either with the secretary, Mr. TV. Stopford, Cambridge, or Messrs. Blomfield and Co., Auckland.
