CLOSE FINISH

Had it not been for B. Rkldolls, Y.M.C.A. would have been dismissed very cheaply at North Shore on Saturday, but a" very valuable innings by him enabled Y.M. to get within 15 runs of North Shore's total of 202. At first it looked as though the Shr/reitcs would have an easv victory and interest in the game flagged When Riddolls and Clark got together, and did not look like getting out, the match developed more interest 0 and worked up to an exciting climax. Coatee found a spot early in the afternoon and quickly went through the top Y.M. batsmen. He bowled excellently and was alwavs a source of danger. Although Player did not take any wickets, he bowled as well as any of the Shore men, and it was a wonder that he was not used more often. H. Webb, Saunders and D. Webb each claimed a victim. With just on half an hour to play, Shore went in to bat, and at stumps had lost four wickets for 71, leaving them with a victory on the first innings. Details:— NORTH SHORE.
