N.Z. CRICKET TEAM.

DECISION FOR FOURTEEN PLAYERS. '•FINANCIAL SUCCESS ASSURED." CHRISTCHURCH, this day. Support to the decision of the NewZealand Cricket Council to send oniy 14 men was given by Mr. Dan Reese, president of the Canterbury Association, at the cricketers' farewell. The first English team to Australia had only twelve men, Mr. Reese said, and the next had thirteen. It was not till 1890 that there were fourteen. It is of recent years that the policy of sending as many as sixteen men has been adopted. "M. A. Noble took teams of fourteen, fifteen and sixteen, and he says that fourteen men are plenty. There is sound judgment behind the decision of the council." "The has been enormous," said Mr. Donnelly, chairman of the council, "but the difficulties have been overcome, and there is no chance of the tour being a financial failure as the last one was." The team is booked to leave Wellington by the Rangitata next Saturday.
