ON 'CHANGE.

FLUCTUATIONS IN SHARES. VALUES FAIRLY STEADY. "TAX-FREES" ADVANCE. Some little business was transacted yesterday after the "Star's" main edition went to press, and values generally were maintained. An exception was Commercial Banks, which, with a sale at 15/9, were 5d cheaper than on Friday last. At this morning's call bidding in the banking section seemed a shade better than yesterday. Insurances, too, were in steady demand, and £2 3/6 was offered for Standards. Newton King prefs. were slightly easier, with a seller at 10/. In the brewery section a buyer came forward for Staples', offering £ 1 14/. The demand for Government tax-free stock continues, and buyers raised their limits 10/, to £95 5/. The Noon Call. A couple of fresh sales were notified at the noon call, after which bidding proceeded quietly, with few alterations in rates. A buver came in for Westport Coals at £1 4/, and £2 16/6 was offered for Kempthorne, Prossers. SALES COMPLETED. Last Sale. AT THE 3.16 P.M.
