PAKURANGA HUNT.
THE ANNUAL REPORT.
LOSS DURING THE YEAR
Tlie report and balance-sheet, to be presented at the annual meeting of the Pakuranga Hunt, to be held on Friday, March 6, states that the accounts disclose an excess expenditure over income for the year of £393 6/9. The past hunting season was the best they had had for some years—the weather _ favourable, scent good and no scarcity of hares. The pack was in good condition and showed excellent sport. There were many excellent runs, one especially in the Howick district. The new country at Drury proved a very welcome addition to the list of meets, and the kind reception from the farmers of that district was much appreciated by the hunt. The couple of hounds purchased from the Hawke's Bay Hunt were a very valuable addition to the pack, being from the best imported stock yet brought to the Dominion. They had also a couple of stud book harriers, very kindly presented by Lord Waleran. These new hounds would give a change of blood, and with luck in rearing the next lot of pups the club should have a pack that both for looks and working qualities should be hard to beat. There were twenty couple of hounds in kennel and they were in firstrate condition. Hounds were out 39 days [last season and accounted for 51. hares. I The kennels and establishment were in good order. Owing to. the loss of revenue from the Hunt race meeting and the losses on the Point-to-Point races and the Hunt Ball, the committee had decided to economise in every way this season and to cut out the refreshments nrovided by the Hunt at distant meets. Every endeavour must be made to make the Point-to-Point races and Hunt ball pay in future.
