DINGO WANTED

MUST BE PUREBRED

LONDON, February 12,

Has Australia a spare dingo? The London Zoo has just lost its only dingo, Jock, born in Regent's Park 10 years ago, and wants to replace him. "Jock's successor must be a purebred," said Mr. Seth Smith, curator of the Zoological Gardens, in an interview. "No mongrels need apply'. I brought five dingoes from Australia in 1907, only one of which was guaranteed purebred." About .half, a dozen .dingoes have been born in the. Zoo during the past halfcentury. Jock was most popular with visitors. He used to wag his tail and invite them to approach the bars, then suddenly show his teeth and snarl. He seemed to enjoy their discomfiture.
