WELLINGTON TROTS.

TO-MORROW'S MEETING. GOOD FIELDS ENGAGED. THE PROGRAMME REVIEWED. (By Telegraph.-—Special to "Star."') WELLINGTON, this day. The Wellington Trotting Club's summer meeting will be held on the Hut t course to-morrow. The acceptances in all races are quite up to the average, and, there should be some fine racing. Ihe fast mile and five furlongs event has, a field of eight, and this should be the best race of the day as all engaged are in their best form at present. There is a' field of 22 in the slow mile and a quarter, which includes a number of improving pacers. Trial Handicap. Of those' on, the limit in the Trial Handicap- the chances of lion, who is fast racing into form, and Sister Rose appear' to be best. Nyallo Silk,.-011 12yds,. should also race well, while the Nelson pacer. Travis, on 24yds, is fast j improving. The public may go for NYALLO SILK TRAVIS RON. » The Nai Nai Handicap. There is only a field of six in the mile and five furlongs trotters' race, the Nai Nai Handicap, but it should provide a good contest?" Eileen Wood, from the limit, is improving with each race, and her latest success at Aldington was a high grade one. Master Audo has come back to form very, quickly, and he will race better over this distance than two miles. Olive Nelson did not race well at Forbury Park, and may have trained off in the meantime, and Ukulele Lady , did not race well last time she started' on this course. Surprise Journey will be better suited by a shorter journey, and Paddy McKinney's effort at Addington last Saturday, when he won so easily, suggests that he will be a solid favourite. The final placings may be PADDY. McKINNEY EILEEN WOOD MASTER AUDO. 5 The February Handicap, The Taranaki pacer All Red, Native Hero and Rollo are on the limit and the chances of the last-named seem to be best, especially if he makes a good, beginning. Bonniewah won on this course at the last meeting, but the field' was not a particularly strong one that the Petervvah mare beat, and the race was three furlongs shorter. Author Franz is racing well, and so is his stable companion, Baron Bingen, who now. looks like winning over a distance. Zella is a fine stayer, but not too reliable at the barrier. 'When Colonial Boy won the Liverpool Handicap at Addington last week he went 4.27 1-5, and as he is now on 84yds in a 4.42 class his chances from a time point of view looks very good. It must remembered, however, that Colonial Boy races best on a dirt track as he. failed badly at New Brighton. The public may go for COLONIAL BOY BARON BINGEN—AUTHOR FRANZ BRACKET BONNIEWAH. The Railway Handicap. There are a number of improving pacers in the Railway Handicap. Possibly Lily Bingen' may be best of the limit division. Denver Hinds has raced best to date over short courses. Dillon Logan's performance at the last meeting of the New Brighton Trotting Club", when he. won the Shirley Handicap, was a good one, as he went a mile and a half round a big field in 3.24. . Mister Pointer now seems to be settling down to show his best speed in races, and Real Huon will not be troubled by the distance. The Melbourne pacer Gunbourne was well backed for his race at Addington, but he refused to leave the mark. He is reported to be a smart pacer. The chief selections may be DILLON LOGAN, MISTER POINTER, GUNBOURNE. The Champion Handicap. Eight are cavded for the Champion Handicap. Half of them are on the limit. Free Advice went well at Addington in both her races over two miles. She just failed in the final furlong, and a faulty beginning cost her the Craven Handicap, run over a mile and a quarter. She should beat Vendome, who has not raced too well lately, may find the distance more to his liking than two miles, but Dundas Boy, after showing improved form at Wellington and Forbury Park, raced badly at Addington last week. Frefe Advice and Vesuvius should beat the other two off the same mark. Logan Chief was successful over a mile and a quarter last week, but from 12 yards he will have to show improvement to hold his own with Harold Thorpe, who is on the same mark. Harold Thorpe won the Dunedin Cup in the mud at Forbury Park, but raced poorly on a firm tracjc on the second day. King Pointer has developed bad manners at the barrier, but with a smart beginning he is not out of the contest and he should beat the Aucklandtrained Machine Gun, who races best on right-handed courses. It should be a keen contest and the final placings may be FREE ADVICE, - HAROLD THORPE, KING POINTER. Sharpe Handicap. With, a field of twenty-two in the Sharpe Handicap, and half of them on the limit, a good deal will depend upon fast beginning. The promising American pacer David McEhvyn is on 12yds, and if he lias had sufficient racing experience to go away well may be the hardest to beat. The final result may. be DAVID McELWYN, BINGEN JUNIOR, NYALLO SILK. Wilford Handicap. All the horses in the, Wilford Handicap are engaged earlier in the day in the Nai Nai Handicap, with the exception -of Native Star. If Paddy McKinney is beaten in the first race he may account for this event. Native Star is a good stayer and may be troublesome. The chief fancies may he PADDY McKINNEY, NATIVE'STAR. The Electric Handicap. The meeting will conclude with the fast mile and a quarter, the Electric Handicap. Wakefield and Dillon Logan j read best of the limit division, and Den-' I ver Hinds and Real Gird should race | well from 12 yards. Erin's Pointer, on 1 24yds, if she is at her best, will take 1 a iot of beating. Baron Bingen, although partial to the distance, may find the » too mndr to give £53

the recently arrived paccr The Admiral will also have to accomplish fast time if he is to succccd. The bulk of th» .. money may go on ;« ERIN'S POINTER, REAL GIRL, DILLON LOGAN.

The Lapidary—Don't two-year-old skipped over three furlongs in a very stylish manner. King's Arch went two miles at a good swinging bat, and Vaistreet bowled along over two circuits very freely. Gleuison and Rosenc ran four furlongs in 52 l-ss, the mare scoring by half a length, Domination registering 52a for the same distance. Lady Vane and Lady Musk, with light boys up and _a flying start, scampered over half a mile m 47 l-ss, finishing on terms. Sir Russell had Black Maire for a companion over five furlongs, run in 1.3 l-ss. The latter cut out the running to the straight, where Sir Russell moved up and at the post won by a neck. Lucky Alice, Antique and King Win were sent together over six furlongs on the grass. The Lucullus mare, carrying the lighter weight, jumped away quickly, galloped freely and beat Antique by s, narrow margin with King Win two lengths away in 1.14 1-5. King Win was con* cedinjc the other two from .two to three stone in weight.
