FAREWELL AFTERNOON.
■ ■ t A large number of guests attended the farewell At Home yesterday afternoon in honour of Mrs. J. W. Tattersfield, convener of the gardening circle of the Lyceunv Club, who leaves by the lonic to-morrow for a tour of England, and the. Continent. The olub ; lounge was artistically arranged in bowls of blue hydrangeas, and multi-coloUred summer flowers. Mrs. W. H. Parkes, president of the club, referred to the guest of. honour's long association with tile gardening circle, and was glad she had consented 011 her return from abroad to resume office. Mrs. Tattersfield was then presented., with a small gift from the members -J'ij Appreciation of her past tiervices.'Mrs. C; J. Schna.uer and Mrs. Hewlett each presented Mrs. Tattersfield with beautiful floral bouquets. In • returning her thanks to the.members, Mrs. Tattersfield told the'guests that she was taking, six cases * containing a collection of nearly (500 New Zealand plants, which would be shown at Kew Gardens, London, and also at several Continental botanical gardens. They would be exhibited under the auspices of the Royal Alpine Society, of which Mrs. Tattersfield was the only New Zealand member. During the afternoon songs and recitations were rendered by Mesdames Cor-/ bin, Hobday and Miss Scott. Among those present were: Mesdames W. H. Parkes, J. A. Clinch, Hammond Hyde, W. M. Gray, Chambers, Dr. Gladys Rowley, Nutter, Winks; Renshaw, Beckett, Grocott, John Cook, Dickinson, Teed, Dickie, Martyn, Brooks, Talbot, Harrison, Metcalfe, Corbett, R. Keeble, Corbin, D'Arcy, Levien, Spragg, Clark, Short, Zahara, Misses Rennell, Coldicutt, Murray, Rishworth, Spicer, Norrie, Wilson, Lavere, N. Livesy, A. Evans, Gray, Connolly, Luxford, Goldie.
