PROGRESS IN AUCKLAND. NEW CUP FOR CHILDREN. .The Auckland Highland and National Dancing Society ' met in i the ■ Trades Hall last evening , , the president,; Mr. P. H. Anderson, presiding over a large attendance. A letter was received from the secretary of the society, Mr. H. S.Lodder, ; tendering his resignation. All arrangement's, for . the annunl picnic were finalised, particulars to be advertised in the "Auckland Star." ■ On the motion of Mr. Golly. It was decided to send a letter of sympathy to the relatives; of the late Mr. McNaiighton. a well-known Auckland dancing enthusiast, who passed away recently. A new cup wasdonatPd to the society by the late secretary, Mr. H. S. Lodder. This cup is to be known as. the: Highland Cup and' is to be competed for amongst children of 11 to 13 years, for the niost points gained annually on Labour Day and be held for one year. . ■ . . . '.. Arrangements were concluded- for Highland dancing programmes .at Patumahoe and Kumeu shortly, and Mr. McDonald and Mr. G. F. Boyle were?.appointed, judges.
