The "Sydney Morning Herald" publishes a letter which the Premier, Mr. J. T. Lang-, sent to the Loan Council on November 27, appealing for assistance.

The "Herald" also publishes Mr. Lang's reply to a question in Parliament hi which the Premier denied that he had made an application to tho Loan Council for assistance, but added that "officials may be going on with negotiations about which I know nothing."
