THE SPEED BOATS.

THREE GOOD RACES

WON BY SPOT, CHANCIT AXD TASMAN. The New Zealand Power Boat Association held. races on Saturday, starting and finishing off the King's wharf. Weather conditions were perfect, the sou'-eou'-west breeze giving smooth water for the whole of the course, which was round the compass dolphin and back to the wharf, twice round.

There were four outboards and two speedboats in each race for their class, and four cruisers competed in a handicap race. The finishes in the speed events were remarkably close, reflecting good work on the part of the haudicapper. Spot won one race and finished first in another, but was disqualified in this event for starting too soon. Chancifc and Redskin, after a close race., crossed the line a dead heat- in the second race, and Chaneit won the other by a narrow margin. In tho cruisers' race Taeman won with My Girl second.

Results were as follow: —

Xo. I.—Speedboats, two rounds: The finish was Chaneit 12m Ss, Redskin 12m 275, Redstreak 13m ss, Hobo 13m Jsos. ■Spot finished first at llm 235, but was disqualified for starting one minute before her time. Result: Chaneit 1, Redskin 2, Redstreak 3.

No. 2. —.Speedboats, two rounds : The finish in this race was most exciting, Chancit and Redskin making a dead-heat at 10m 425, Lady Eve 10m 445, Spot llm 10s, Hobo 12m 345, Redstreak 12m 30s. Result: Chancit and Redskin 1, Lady Eve 2, Spot 3.

No. 3. —'Speedboats (sweepstake) : The first time round, Hobo led Redstreak by Us, witli Spot 2s and Redskin 5s later. The finish was: Spot 10m 17s, Redstreak 10m 395. Hobo 10m 495, Redskin 10m 04s. Result: Spot 1, Redstreak 2, Hobo 3.

Cruisers Race. —There were, lour starters, My Girl (ser), Tasnian (4'jm), Ramona (7im), Maro (13m). All. got away well on time, and the finish was: Tasman 23m 2Ss. My Girl 24in 10s, Ramona 24m 445. Maro did not finish. Result: Tasman 1, My Girl 2, Ramona 3.

The officers for the . day weret Starter and judge, Mr. R. Mount; timekeeper. Mr. G. P. Robertson: handicapper, Mr. C. R. Wilson.
