PAPAKURA TOWN BOARD. (From Our Own • Correspondent.) PAPAKURA. Monday. The Papakura Town Board met this evening, the chairman, Mr. H. L. Thornton, presiding. The board decided to metal that strip of road immediately in front of the monument, between the Great South Roatl and Opaheke Roads, at an estimated cost of £12. Tenders will be called for a supvily ot half-inch water meters, following die rfc ceipt of a report from the waterworks committee regarding the supply of watoi , . The report stated that there had in the past been a huge waste, and that t!i6 present filter plant was taxed to its utmost capacity. The board was faced with the alternatives of increasing the capacity of the filter, at a hujre tost, or ot installing meters. The committee iilso suggested the cost of installing the meters could 'be charged aaginst the waterworks account. On an average 280,000 jjaflonS were used daily, -which averaged somewhere near 175 gallons per head per day. As several members were concerned about the cost to 'the ratepayers if the meter system -were installed, the chairman ot the committee, Mr. D.
