"NOT WORTH TIN OF FISH."
TOWN PLANNING. ———— v WAIKATO CRITICISM. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspoudeiit.) HAMILTON, this day. Scepticism concerning the value of town planning- was expressed by members of the Waikato County Council to-day. Mr. T. Hinton, the chairman, remarked "■•hat town planning was not worth "a tin of fish," and Mr. T. 11. Henderson expressed the view that the director only wrote to get the annual (Subscription of a guinea to the Town Planning Institute. Mr. G. Smith said it was another Government Department of which there were too many already. Mr. G. M. Watt objected to the suggestion of the chairman that there wa.s no harm in the council becoming a member. It was the thin end of the wedge. Mr. Hinton added that the only people interested were engineers, surveyor* and architect*, who seemed to be making jobs for themselves. The letter from the Director of Town Planning inviting- the council to join the institute was received.
