WAGES CUT FAVOURED. WHANGAREI DECISIONS. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHAXGAREI, this day. A desire for retrenchment as a result of (lie depression was reflected in several actions by the Whangarei Hospital Board yesterday. A proposal to make a out of not more than. 10 per cent in all wages and salaries, was favourably spoken to, and referred to the legal and finance committee. Economies-in administration were also discussed. Country representatives pointed out. that dairymen's means had been reduced by 20 to 3,1 per cent, and those of sheepfarmcrs from (id to 75 per cent. In view or tho fact that all miners are covered compulsorily, it was decided to give the Hikiu-angi" Miners' Medical Club treatment on the basis of 50-,">o. whereas other friendly "societies have a 45-55 per cent, basis. In future the liability of societies will cease after a patient has been in hospital for ISO weeks.
