DRAGGED BY HORSE.

FARM WORKER'S MISHAP. SEVERE INJURIES. A serious accident befell Mr. Peter Maxwell, aged about 25, a farm worker in the employ of Mr. I. Littler, of Whitford, this morning. He went to catch a horse in a paddd'k. He secured the animal and held it by a halter. The rope of the halter became twisted round his wrist when the animal bolted, and Maxwell was dragged nearly half a mile. The horse jumped over a creek in the paddock, and Maxwell, who by this time was unconscious, was very badly knocked about. When assistance came he was taken to the farm, and a telephone message was sent to the St. John Ambulance in Rutland Street, Auckland. A quick journey was made by one of the ambulance cars, and Mr. Maxwell was taken to the Auckland Hospital. His injuries, consist of broken ribs, a fracture of the left shoulder blade, severe concussion, and very severe bruises.
