Mantis towed off a Chinese military transport which was ashore on a sandbank near Temple Kill, which is ih the banditridden. section about the middle of the Yangtze River. When in imminent danger of attack by "Reds," who the day before had heavily fired on the Mantis, the gunboat replied, inflicting many "Red" casualties. . Gunboats are daily engaging Communists in- this section of the river.
