GYLES SECURES TITLE
WINNER'S NINETEENTH ATTEMPT
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) ROTORUA, this day. The play-off between Gyles and Erskine for the chess championship was concluded after midnight, Gyles winning on the 70th move. This is the winner's nineteenth attempt on the championship, beingnine times runner-up.
