TEAM FOR ENGLAND.

W. R. PATRICK'S CHOICE,

PLAYERS IN" THE RUNNING

CLEVERLEY'S BIG CHANCE

(By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") CHRISTC'HURCH, this day. "We have seen some wonderful cricket over the holidays," said W. I\. Patrick, the well-known cricketer, yesterday. "I have honestly never known it as good. Big scores have been made possible by poor bowling in every side. Neither Auckland uor Wellington is particularly strong in this department and apart from Cleverley there was nothing much in it. Cleverley, I think, has every chance of getting away with the New Zealand ■ team. Men most likely to figure in the selection are Cleverley, Mills, Weir, Vivian, Allcott (Auckland), Lowry, James,-Dempster, McGirr, Gallichan (Wellington), Hamilton, Kerr, Page, Merritt, Lester, Talbot, Cromb (Canterbury), Blunt (Otago). "I think the job of the selectors will be fairly easy. A few good men might be left "out, but there will be just as good a man go away in any case. Whatever happens they will have a tip-top New Zealand side and one that will benefit wonderfully from the trip. "I don't think that D. J. Mcßeath is past getting away. He is a slow lefthander and spins them back well from the leg. He would .be a great success on English wickets."
