Earthquake Far Under JPacific
Ocean.
BATHING BANNED IN CHILE,
(Received 2.30 p.m.) VANCOUVER, December 30
A message from Coquimbo states that heavy green seas reeking of an unnatural odour washed the shores of Northern Chile, as an aftermath of what is believed to have been a great earthquake far under the Pacific.
Port officials have warned the inhabitants against sea bathing, because examination revealed a considerable quantity of suspended animal matter. Apparently -millions of fishes were killed by the shock.
Although there is little wind, seas are running furiously and unusual heat prevails.
