CAR OVERTURNS.
MOTORING FATALITY.
ACCIDENT AT MAWERA.
WOMAN THROWN OVER HEDGE
ONE KILLED, TWO INJURED

One- woman was killed, and a man and a woman injured as the result of a motor accident on the Waihi Road, opposite the Hawera racecourse, , about ten o'clock last night. Those involved were: — Mrs. E. M. Craig, widow, of Wanganui, fractured skull, killed. " Mrs. Ultan McCabe, of Wanganui, shock, concussion and bruises. Mr. Eric Foster, single, of Wanganui, shock, concussion and bruises. The injured received medical attention and were removed to private hospital, but their condition is not serious. The accident occurred on a straight stretch of bitumen road, about two miles north'of Hawera. The car, which appears to have skidded sideways some distance acroes the road, came to rest upside down on the left side of the road and against a 4ft. hedge. Mre. Craig, who was thrown out over the hedge, dragged, herself about 12 yards through thick lucerne, 'and Avas found unconscious. She was taken to a nearby house, and died a few minutes later.
Fire immediately 'broke out in the car after the accident, but the other two passengers were assisted to safety in a dazed condition. The car was completely destroyed.
Mrs. Craig and Mrs. McCa-be were sisters, and Mr. Foster, who was driving, is their nephew. The women are sisters of Mrs. J, R. Foster, wife of the proprietor of Foster's Hotel, Wanganui, and of Mr. F. L. Parsons, proprietor of the Rutland Hotel, Wanganui.
It is understood that the party was going to Auckland to see Mrs. Craig's 22-year-old son, who is a. purser on.a Union Steamship Company's vessel in port there.
