No Dividend on Favourites. — Collision in Opening Event.

Racing commenced with the Tamaki Handicap for which Royal Triumph ( £1040) was a warm favourite with Anseline ( £300) and Linnett the Great ( £359) next best backed. Tamahine, the winner, carried only £12G and paid double figures. Wah and Hoyal Triumph were slow to move and Blue and Gold broke early in the race, the order past the stand being Billy Carbine, Direct Action, Tamahine, Royal Triumph, Blue and Gold and Lord Haldane, then came Gold Star, Anseline, Linnett the Great and Kolraar. Tamahine had charge when they came round again from Royal Triumph, Direct Action and Blue and Gold, and they were followed by Linnett the Great, Billy Carbine and Kolmar, this order being maintained along tne back. Tamahine still led across the top and into the straight with Royal Triumph, T.T"*"+t the Great, Blue and Gold and Kolmar all handy. She went on to win easily by four lengths from Kolmar, who finished fast to beat 4nseline for second place. Royal Triumph was fourth, then came Direct Action with the rest tailed off. "Mio-nonne and Baron Bingen were not harnessed up for the Park Handicap, and most money (£1153);• came ■ for -.Red Shadow, while Arethusa (£804) ;~and Great Parrish (£023) also had support. Red Shadow began quickest from Some Dillon, Lord Nepean, Great Ballin and Arethusa, and when, they passed the stand Red Shadow was,' leading Some Dillon, Lord Nepean, Arethusa, Great Parrish and Great Ballin, the order being the same along the back. Crossing the top Red Shadow was going freely an .front of Arethusa, Some Dillon and Great Ballin, and< turning for home the Derby winner was attended -by Great Ballin, Arethusa Some Dillon arid Great Parrish. He held 1 his advantage to the finish, and won* nicely by two lengths from Arethusa, who beat Great Parrish by one and a half lengths. Some Dillon was fourth, followed by Great Ballin, Warspite and Lord Nepean. ' Dead-heat in President's. All the acceptors went to the post in tl.e* President's Handicap, which proved tv wood betting race, with Harold Logan ( £1308) and Wrackler (£740) best backed. The dead-heaters, Free Advice ( £487) and Carmel (£323) also had friends. Free Advice began best from Mountain Dell, Florent and Reremai, and passing -the stand Mountain Dell had charge from Free Advice, Reremai, Florent, Carmel, The Abbey ' and Native Prince, who were followed by Jewel Pointer, Wrackler, Harold Logan, Vachine Gun and Kohara. When they came round again, Mountain Dell and Free Advice were leading Harold Logan, Reremai and CarmeL with Wrackler and Native Prince close up. Harold Logan was second to Mountain Dell along the back, with Free Advice, Reremai, Carmel, Florent and Native Prince racing in a bunch. They went across the top without any alteration, and Harold Logan wont to the front entering the straight from Mountain * Dell, Carmel, Native Prince and Free Advice. In a great finish the judge was unable to separate Carmel and Free Advice when they passed the post, the pair being three lengths ahead of Jewel Pointer, with Harold Logan' a head away fourth.
