ENTIRE TOWN DESTROYED.

(United P.A.-Electric Telegraph-Copyright) (Received 12.30 p.m.) VANCOUVER, December &S. A message izom Salta, in the extreme north-west; of Argentina, says' 35 persons -were killed and 70 injured by an earthquake which rocked the district of Pampa early yesterday. . -

Fragmentary dispatches stated that an entire town of Pampa was destroyed;

Thirty-eight bodies have.also been recovered from the debris in the mined town of. La Porna. The earthquake shook the northern Argentine and the undulatory shocks moved from east to west. Great crevices appeared and the majority of the buildings in the town collapsed.

The survivors laboured beneath totter-: ing walls aiid alongside' half-fallen structures seeking the bodies of their relatives. Most of the population of 3000 must live in tents, for several weeks.
