ROAD TRAGEDY.
FATAL COLLISION Three Killed, 40 Injured When Picnic Buses Crash. HEARTRENDING SCENES. (United P.A.—Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 10 a.m.) SYDNEY, this day. A collision between two heavily loaded omnibuses at Rockdale, a suburb, last night, was responsible for three deaths. John Roberts, 48, H. W. Parr, 32, both residents of Bexley, and Mrs. Lilian SlOane, 35, of Oatley, were the victims. Forty people were injured, several of them seriously. The vehicles were conveying Labour Day holiday-makers homeward from the beaches and collided, causing a terrific roar at a busy intersection in the vicinity of the Rockdale railway station. The cries of the injured and alarmed women and children, were heartrending, and brought crowds of willing helpers who feared that the buses might catch fire, in which case there would be a heavy death roll. Their task was difficult and distressing in the extreme, as the buses were completely wrecked. Brok'en glass lay everywhere. One child was trampled upon in the stampede of the frantic passengers to reach safety.
