The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram,, dated October 4, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London:— Tallow.—No auction was held this week. The spot market is quiet, with a tendency downward, on the weakness of tooutn American descriptions. , . . 7 Hemp.—The Manila market is irregular. K grade October-December shipment, sold at £20' 12/6 early this week but was steadier later, and sold at £20 17/6.. Sisal: African is steady. No. 1, .good marks, October-December shipment, is worth. t,ll. Fair average quality sold at hli. U/o. Little New Zealand is qffermg, but small business has been done in fair at 10/, rejected, £18 10/; No. 3 tow, £13 15/. for October-November shipment Eggs—The market is disappointing for the 'best eggs, with quotations Irregular. Cheaper grades are steady, with quiet demand for first arrivals of colonial. Ihe present quotations are per long hundred: English, national mark. '17/. to 23/6; Irish, northern, 17/ to 22/6; Free State, 13/ to 17/6;- Danish, Swedish and Belgian, 15/ to 17/: Dutch, 15/ to 19/6; French, 13/6 to 17/; South African, 13/ to 16/9; Polish, 8/6 to 11/; English, ordinary pack, 16/ to 21/. Oats.—English are firmer as the harvest was destroyed by the bad weather. Fine white is scarce. The new crop ie soiling at 16/ to' 18/6; old crop. 21/ to 21/6. Imported sorts have declined. Plate, October shipment, sold at 10/7%: JanuaryFebruary shimnente, new crop, 11/3, nominal value; New Zealand A grade Gar-! tons, 18/6. October shipment Peas—There was little inquiry for imported maple, as buyers are meeting'immediate requirements with English at 00/ to 40/ nominal value; New Zealand, October shipment. - 60/; A grade Tasmanwn 68/.. Blues are quiet. Small round Dutch is freely offered at £12 10/ There is no inquiry for New Zealand or Tasmania*. The nominal value of New Zealand is £10 to £11, ex store Beans —English are finding quiet sales at a decline m value. Winter, 34/ to 35/choice spring..3s/ to 36/.
